Broken Promise, Kept

Glaring at Sori, "Muscle, Bone, Artery? How bad off is she?"

i look at him "i was aiming to break the bone to render her immobile" i look away and grit my teeth "i wont know for sure until i see the wound though".

"Stupid she-he." I pant as I work myself to sitting. "Could have just let me go, but noooooo. Had to have me here." My voice raises a few octaves in a mocking tone. "Oh I'm so sorry i shot you even though I love you so much." My voice returns to normal. "You know what, might as well give it up now. No sense staying here. Kiou's gone and ain't coming back. I've seen to it."

i twitch at that could it be true? could she be gone? could this be all that is left?.

"I should curse you for a fool, but you've got enough to do." Djehuty growls at Sori under his breath as he rolls her chair to the side of the wounded woman, though not before saying, "I'm not Lily. I don't have the strength or the patience to deal with what ever crisis you're going through, 'Kiou.' Now sit still like a good girl, and shut your mouth."

i shake my head "uh right.. get me a set of latex gloves and a doctors bag from my room or make that two sets of gloves".

"Forget the glove, and tell me what to do. You're not staying alone with her."

i give him a mocking stare "ok let me dig out the bullet with chopsticks let it get infected because i dont have gloves on and then stitch it with noodles ok?".

"Oh sure, let the old man touch a girl." I narrow my eyes at him. "Are you some kind of pervert? You two make a great pair. One loves pain the other blood."

"Stop testing me." He looks up at Sori. "This isn't about stitching it, its about cleaning and stopping the bleeding till we can get Liv in here. You hit the bone, no amount of stitching is going to save the leg. Why the devil didn't you call for help when she woke?"

i shrug and raise my voice "maybe because i was about to be decapitated? now are you going to let me fix that leg? i served as a combat surgeon in vietnam for christ sakes!".

"And you've got one hand, girl." He shrugs, "Now argue or tell me what to do."

I look to Sori. "Don't listen to him. I think he just wants to touch me."

i look at him "ive already told you what to do and this isnt a one man job so one hand or not your going to need my help".

"I don't leave, Miss." Djehuty's tone goes dry as he picks up the fallen sword and sheaths it, before respectfully laying it aside, well out of Kiou's reach. He then pulls his coat off and shoves it in Sori's lap. "Forget the gloves. Tell me what we need and I'll tell you what pocket."

i look at him "okay i need either really strong booze or gloves then a flashlight something to pull the bullet or bulletfragments out with and needle and thread".

"Booze? You're supposed to woo a girl first." I chuckle as the pain is starting to make me sweat.

"Try the flask in the front pocket, it's absinthe, and dig out my lighter and pliers from the inside left pocket." He says, looking at the damage as objectively as he can. "And grab the dish out of the right front pocket while you're at it. The bone is going to come out in pieces."

i look at djhuety "okay when i say nurse you will respond to that understood?" without waiting for acknowledgement i say "nurse! scrub up" and present my hand i point to the canteen.

Finally, finally I come dashing into the room. "Oh you pair of fools! Get out the way!"
Dropping to my knees beside the girl, I drop my hands onto Kiou's flesh, close my eyes and sing.
The work takes two minutes, and more of my strength than it had any right to. By the time I sit back, a bullet sitting in my palm, I'm gasping as if I'd run a mile, not down the hall. I glare up. "You....idiot. Keep...out...of...it, that...was what you said. Took me...ages...to fight....that off. Mind...your...bloody...words!" Then my glare turns to Sori. "And you! A...gun?! Seriously?! Didn't you....learn...any other way...to handle...anything?!"

i look at her and defensively say "i have one hand and one foot she has two feet and two hands and a sword sure i could have tried to grapple her but i doubt it would have worked tell me would you have handled it differently if you were charged by a schizophreniac with a sword when you are in a wheelchair".

I watch Liv work her magic and grit my teeth. Stupid woman could make me go to sleep again if she wanted and then who knows where I'd wake up. While she's busy yelling at them I squirm towards my sword intent on getting it once more.

Djehuty glares at the girl as she starts to move. "Kiou, you can't move yet." before turning to Liv. "The reason you broke it is it figured out that this isn't what I meant. And I don't buy for a moment you didn't have time to call us in after she woke, Sori." He pick's up Kiou's sword and rests it across his palms, reverently setting it in its place. "You won't be drawn in anger, this time," he whispers.

Frustrated with the whole mess, I raise my voice, my power, my memory of overwhelming weariness. Finally, she lays still. I shake myself, trying to clear the stars from my vision. "There. Would have been...fixed... a lot....sooner...if somebody hadn't glued me...to my chair." I turn my glare on my man again.

He shrugs and rescues his coat and flask from Sori.
