A clock and a rat

I look from him to Mathias, and roll my eyes expressively. "Besides, you don't want to see what shows up on the Nightside TV sometimes. And aside from a stove and some way to play music, there isn't much more we need, really. We aren't home all that much."

i look at him and add "were usually out killing giant crabmonsters".

I shoot a glance over at Ignacy. "These crabmonsters you keep talking about. We don't have them any
more in the 23rd century. I'm beginning to understand the reason why."
I pause for effect.

"They aren't common now either. In fact the Karkinos probably only exist in the Nightside." I glance at our new guest, and sip my tea. "If you're going to search for your way home, be careful. The Nightside is a dangerous place."

Lily pops in from the kitchen. "Better believe it. An' it'll chew you up if ya' up if ya step wrong. People are here for a good time, an for most, pain isn't a good time. Death, yes; Pain, no."

"Humm," I pause, "Well, I guess that is good. Getting tortured or injured is sooo messy."

I laugh nervously.

"What shall we do now? Is there any way to rescue your friend, since my warp failed?"

"Lambkin can barely lookout for himself under normal conditions, let alone a waste land." Lily slumps against the door frame.

I bite my lip. "He's stronger than he looks, but you have a point. I can try to open a gate....though I'm still a bit weak. And I'm not sure he's in the same place he was either..." I growl, low in my throat. "Sylus will get a tongue lashing when I get ahold of his feathery hide.Off with his girl when we need him...Gods damn it. If Djhuety's not here in another twenty minutes, I'll try another gate."

I look up at Liv with a startled look to my face.
"What was that sound?" I ask her in a slightly off voice.

Lily takes to pacing, occasionally casting a worried look at Liv or an accusatory glare in Mathias' direction. "Its not a real door," she murmurs to herself, glancing furtively at her hand. "But neither are the minds locks..." She clenches her hand into a fist and resumes pacing.

I glance at Lily, shake my head, and then glance into Mathias's wide eyes. Gods, I have got to remember to be more careful around those I don't know.Being among my friends has made me careless about keeping up appearances. Try to look human, at least for the moment, I remind myself.
"Probably the pipes." I say, shrugging.

I give Liv an odd look..
"Yea, the pipes."

I pause for a second, hoping she will give away something.
"Well, shall we try to rescue your friend? It doesn't appear as if he is escaping himself."

I cross my arms over my chest, thinking. "I wish it were that easy..." I glance at the door, willing it to open and admit my friend. I sigh. "Djhuety, where in the name of bright and dark gods are you?"

Finally entering, the damn door was stuck, i can't the statement Liv made "in trouble the way we always get when someone gets separated." then catching sight of the new companion "Jeez Liv, recreating much" I smile to show I am teasing the familliar ash haft of my spear more of a comfort then it should be "so then do we come up with a plan?"

I raise my brows. "This is Mathias, Liam," I say pointedly, "and he's new to the Nightside. Mathias, this is Liam."

"A pleasure. And what is it you do?" I look at his spear speculatively.

"remember more years then any Living man should ever be allowed thanks to Liv and Dejhuty, Used to be a body guard and a keeper of "strays" even a young succubus a century or two back. but generally find new and interesting ways to make those who hurt those close to me dead" he smiles "and not in the way that allows them to be brought back or to continue moving without a pulse" I leave off the drinking, making horrible idea's real, and generally encouraging Ignacy to 'have fun' "what about you?

I glance up at Liam dryly. "Did you miss the bit when I said 'he's new here'?"

Lily leans in conspiratorially to Liam. "New, and a complete idiot... tried to rip a hole in the house."

"thats what caused the Bloody headache what the Hell man, what did you DO?" Looking at the new guy " or what do you do? and no Liv i just wanted to see the look on his face"

I close my eyes, and rub two fingers across my brow. "A thousand years, Liam, and your sense of humor still involves men being hit with pies and stepping on banana peels."

"It really was an accident..." I tried to explain. "Besides, no-one died..."

I raise my head. "What exactly were you trying to do?"
Mathias looks thoughtful. And then it happens again: his mind lights up with something like sparks, fizzling and glowing. It looks almost like magic...and yet it's not. So strange...I cock my head, watching him. He really is more than he seems, this new stray of ours in from the streets.

" I actually never got the pie or banana peal thing, now their sword or shield falling apart or armor falling off, that is freaking hilarious" Looks at liv "would you rather i went into a long winded explination of the application of necromantic energy in medical stasis fields or to stop a siezure?" he asks calmly " and it may have been an accident but we might have a way to help stabilize it next time"

Lily huffs and turns on her heal, disappearing back into the kitchen. In almost the same moment, a semi familiar form skips from a point a foot above Mathias' head and drops heavily onto his shoulder, digging claws and hissing. 'Still haven't quite got the hang of it." she sighs, pulling her claws from the sleeve of the leather jacket and spreading her her wings for balance.
