A clash of two titans

I cock my head. "It'd be nice to have a little more money around the house. What were you thinking?"

i think about it "i was thinking about becoming a cabbie you know? i mean i got the guns to knock most of the beasties off my back and i can drive a car".

Slowly, thoughtfully, I nod. "You know, that could be a really grand idea. You've got the guts, the firepower and the reflexes for it...you think you'd enjoy that?"

i shrug "well i get to sit on my ass all day and who knows i might meet some interesting people".

I grin. "So, where you getting the car? I can help with the cash if you need, give me three or four months and I can come up with it..."

i stop her "no need i have a car a red prius and yes i know prius right?"

"Means nothing to me, I don't know cars. So, have you got it ready for the Nightside streets?"

i shrug "well its the car i used for when i was a bounty hunter so its already got most everything it needs except for the taxi sign".

I grin, reaching over to clasp her shoulder. "Then go for it! I can't wait to hear crazy cabby stories."

i look at liv "so do you have any clue where i could get a sign and one of those computers that decides how much they have to pay dependant on distance?".

"I'm sure we can find a store around here somewhere. If you go to the Library you can check on their computers. Too bad we don't have one, but considering how computers react to me..." I shrug helplessly.

I slowly come to myself, the light coming through the windows hurts my eyes. biting back any sign of discomfort I begin to slowly take stock of myself, Flexing fingers, then arms, then toes. when I go to stand up there is a weight on my chest, cracking my eyes I see the familiar mop of kaija's hair splayed out, if the wet spot on my shirt is any indication she is drooling in her sleep. I smile but I am aware it doesn't reach my eyes, everything feels muted.

i go to make myself another cup of coffe and ask liv "so when do you think wed have time for that?".

I listen to the two of them talk and keep close on Sori's heels. "I can use a computer... I can help maybe. Though... I don't .... Nevermind, I think I can figure it out. If you desire me to, I can try to help you with purchasing your cab stuff."

i look over my back and smile at kiou "that would be grand".

I smile brightly at her. "I'm happy that I can be of some assistance to you. I've been wondering what I am to do here in the home now that I am here. I imagine I will figure it out in time but it is still a puzzling situation that I have found myself in here."

i look at her sympathetically "i can only imagine" i sit down "you talk about your grandfather alot was he a great man?".

"He was... Everything to me..." I halt a bit as I realize I may be divulging too much. Though I am new here, these people have already made me feel welcomed and comfortable. There is also still the lingering chance that some of them are otherworldly. "He was the head of our samurai clan. Though... Our clan was only they and my parents." I sigh softly.

As much as I am content to just lay there, it would be poor repayment to the two who fought so hard to bring me out of that. . . place. I shudder remembering the feel of it. The shudder is apparently enough to get Kaija to move just a little, but enough that I can stand. My joints crack painfully as if i have been laying in one position for weeks and in truth it could have been. I stretch wincing at each pop and crack. I am too damn young to feel this old. Shortly I make my way into the hallway.

i look at her and say "i know what it feels like to be the last of a dying breed" i take a sip from the cup "the people like me there are only a handful left".

I sigh softly. "I imagine... If I ever get home, I will be the only one. I am an only child and my grandfather did not adopt a new son before his death. With no man to take the name, our line dies out." I look to the floor sadly as the crushing knowledge of being alone starts to creep into my chest.

i put the cup down on the sink and give the girl a hug "couldnt you just take up the name and continue your line?".

She hugged her tightly. "Sadly, I'm afraid that will never work. A man is needed to adopt the name and continue it. And since I am here, I cannot adopt a man to marry. Only my mother or grandparents may adopt my husband."

i hold her tight "well look at it like this then the end of something is only the beginning of something new".

"Very true. I have been trying to see it in such a manner but I find that it is getting harder and harder as I realize my life before the cave is completely gone. I must.... Hold strong and prepare myself for the future." I slip free of her hold and bow towards her. "Thank you for your warmth, guidance, and the chance to spar. All are greatly appreciated; I assure you."
