A clash of two titans

i get up from bed and put on my clothes minus the scarf coat and belt and walk into the kitchen in relatively good mood, i find kiou sitting at the kitchen table i greet her with a nod and say "morning".

I nod my head towards her as I sit with my tea and rice. I say a silent thanks to the home as I take a bite and chew it slowly. "Good morning. Did you rest well?"

i shrug "cant complain" i go to the coffe machine and put fresh water in it and turn it on "and you?".

"I... did not sleep much..." My eyes are drawn to the coffee maker and I wince as a twinge of pain shoots through my head. Though i have never seen the maker in action, I suddenly feel as though I know everything about it. Truly this place is strange.

i grab two mugs and fill them "this ought to quicken you up" i hand her one and take a sip from mine "tastes vile though" i grimace "problem adjusting?".

"If only..." I sigh softly. "I find myself adjusting faster and faster to things I have never seen before." I pause to take the mug and sniff at it. "No... Last night I spent most of the night with nightmares... horrible things..." I sip the drink and immediately begin coughing. I've had bitter green tea but this is just too much.

my curiosity intrigued i ask "what horrible things?" i down the last of the coffe and gets another cup.

"There was a temple... and the sky was dark..." I look into my rice remembering things despite myself. "I remember demons and running...." Slowly I look to my housemate. "I woke up often sweating... It was very uncomfortable."

i sip the cup "ah yes i used to have nightmares too about the wars i fought in and the things i did" i gulp "i guess im either too inured to it now or i just stopped caring".

"perhaps... But I have never been to a place like this before. It.. It looks nothing like anything I have seen before." I sigh lightly and take another bite of my rice. Perhaps later I will make some proper pickled vegetables to eat with my morning meal tomorrow.

i finish the cup and put it in the sink, i scratch my head "so would you have time for that sparring match now or is it a bad choice of time?" i smile ever so slightly doubting she will back down when challenged.

Finishing my rice quickly, I look to her. "I imagine now, of all times, would be a good choice of time." Standing, I carry my dishes to the sink and set them down. "Where will we have this match?"

i gesture around us and say loudly "i presume the house would be able to provide a fitting arena dont you think?".

As if in response to her words, a door creaks open across from them, opening out from the living room.

i shout "thank you house" and lower my voice "you go ahead i gotta go get my sword".

Bowing my head lightly to her, I begin to make my way towards the door and hold the sheath of my sword; tilting it lightly in preparation. no matter what is on the other side of that door, I am ready. Grabbing the handle, I walk into the room.

i go to my room and rummage through piles of rubbish ammunition and guns until i finally find what im looking for half buried beneath what might be described as a mountain of dynamite i unsheathe it and decide to put the safety on the flamethrower i walk back into the kitchen and step into the newly created room.

Through the door, a simple room, almost spartan in appearance, gleams white. The walls, heavily paddded, are simple and unadorned. The floor is covered in a thick layer of sand, soft and heavy. Along the walls, dummies of many types stand ready for practice.

i walk to one side of the room "so what rules do we set for this match?" i pin my hair in a tail and rests my sword against my shoulder.

"I believe... Removal of body parts should be forbidden. In matches with my grandfather, we stopped the moment it was clear who would win. If his blade would be in a position to make a killing blow, then he won." Slowly, i draw my sword and close my eyes remembering my grandfather and his stances.

i laugh "ok so no dismemberment is that all?" i smile and tighten the grip on my sword and ball the other hand into a fist "Im ready".

I find my center and open my eyes. "I am ready." My blade stands high at attention ready to act at a moment's notice.

i take my cap off and charge towards her throwing it at her face.

Hearing her advance, I side step and tilt the tip down and the hilt up for a defensive and deflecting blow.

as i close i grab the hilt with my other hand and do a series of quick attacks to probe her.
