Through the Looking Glass

The Light streaming though my window at first dazzles me. light. warmth, I don't really want to wake yet so I just lay there at first. Then the events of the last few days begin to play through my head. the prophesy, Liv and Dejhuty, Adriana, and being woken by that gods awful screech in the night. Rolling out of bed I see the glass it explains why my head is pounding worse then normal. the thought is oddly comforting. I eventually manage to lever myself out of bed only to notice it is mearly dawn. Damn even the soft grey light is too much now, I have spent to long in the darkness, it is still strange to finally sleep properly. I am not overly quiet as I make my way out the door and down the hall, No one else seems to be awake so I run the shower on cold, to clear my head and ease the ache, it is a memory of home that i don't want to loose and am glad to repeat, the house seems to catch on and the shower for a moment feels as if I am standing under one of the few waterfalls I would go to, stones under my feet and the water cold and fresh. but when i step out it is still the shower we have all be using. None the less I murmur my thanks and dress making my way to the kitchen for that blessing and curse men have found Known as Coffee. today feels like it is going to be Big, a thought both daunting and exhilarating.

Djehuty wakes, arms wrapped loosely where Liv drew them the previous evening after her first sleep. Slipping her grip, he gently caresses her cheek and kisses her forehead before extracting himself carefully without waking her and slides from the bed before stretching and pulling on his pants. Looking to Sylus' nesting on the wall, he gladly perceives its emptiness; damn bird did know when to leave well enough alone after all.

Falling artfully into a high back chair after exploring his wardrobe, he slips on the shirt and socks before drawing himself into lotus position and closing his eyes.

Stretching like a cat, Lily rolls from her bed, landing on hands and feet in a tangle of silk sheets. Sighing, she wraps it loosely around herself and steps out into the corridor, sniffing the air as she moves to the kitchen. "What smells like sweat and shame and caffeine?" she mumbles as she passes Liam on her way to fridge.

"Our Pyro, to the first two and the coffee to the last" i mutter into my cup, rolling my pendant between my fingers snapping it open one way, then closed, then another way, and closed not really looking at it "What else did you expect?" I stretch my legs out under the table and lean back almost to the point of sliding off the chair before i begin to laugh, it starts a low chuckle, but is soon a full belly laugh that has me drop off the chair. Finally getting up i shake my head "the fates make fools of us all" i mutter the mirth evaporating as quick as it came

Lily smiles sweetly as she pull the milk from the fridge. "You know they make meds for people like you."

"Yes, it has been around for thousands of years and has been the cause and solution to many of lifes problems, unfortunatly i just woke up and i don't want to go to the bar for breakfast" I reply Aimee winging her way to my shoulder to look at me curiously "i am okay little one, just needed the break for a moment" I murmur soothingly to the serpent

Pouring two glasses, Lily sets one down in front of Liam before sitting across from him, checking the knots on her improvised gown. "Then our trained ape found a woman?" She frowns at the thought as she sips from her glass.

"No he found a screamer that woke me out of a dead sleep, no pun intended." I grumble "I would suggest getting dressed girly, once people start moving I have the feeling today will go quick" I pick up the glass "thanks, you get dressed i will make breakfast, even if it is simple this time, no huge spread" i leave out that i don't think i could manage a 'normal' breakfast for me

Grumbling, Lily rises and pulls her covering closer. "You should talk to Bacchus on the Street of the Gods... Rumor mill has it he deals in a Black Market/Black Arts anti-hangover. I was told it was an Alcoholic Exorcism." She pads out of the room and down the hall to her own chambers, brushing shoulders with Djehuty as he emerges, binding his hair with a leather thong. Blushing, she darts into her room as Djehuty looks after her, hearing the locks click as he shakes his head.

"Trouble and Drama," he says darkly as he wanders into the living area.

I raise from my chair and begin searching around the kitchen, we have fruit, oatmeal, milk, why not, simple filling and most people won't complain I hope, setting out the ingredients i take two glasses and fill them with water, one goes into the ice box and the other to drink while i cook. it doesn't take long to get started and it appears I miss calculated how much oatmeal to use. so the pot is a little over full but it is getting better i sigh stirring not noticing the movement behind me

Leaning on the dividing counter, Djehuty watches a moment. "Long to breakfast, great chef? Say what they will, fairy food hardly has the substance of your own."

I start nearly overturning the pot before i smile and shake my head "some chef, yeah i can cook but right now, simple seems so much better, hope ya like oatmeal," I lift the steaming pot onto the table I smirk "tell me i am not the only one who was woken by the screaming last night"

He grimaces. "The Bean Nighe is a holy terror and an infamous tease. And she is not permitted to bring her lovers to court since... Well, it is a wonder we slept in the night."

I bark a laugh "so that is who I threatened to get a gag for?" I shake my head "that is kinda rich" I say pulling the chilled water from the icebox and smiling as the cold liquid clears my head "dish up"

I freeze at the entrance to the kitchen, eyes wide in shock. "Y...you told the Bean Nigh to get a gag?!" I choke out. "Tell me you're...no, it's you, you'd do it....tell me she didn't get angry, didn't say anything back..." I shoot a horrified look down the hall, but Ignacy's door is closed.

I turn to Liv and shrug "I didn't hear her say anything but i finished the comment and went back to bed so she might have and I missed it" I sink into my chair again and follow my own order of 'dish up, dropping some of the blueberries i found into the meal

Djehuty digs in, and hands a bowl to Liv before fixing his own. "I don't think we have as much to fear from the lady as the man she chooses."

I shake my head. "Lost boys. Bloody lost boys." I mutter under my breath, taking a bite.
Dropping into a chair, I glare down the hall.
And it had started out such a nice morning too. I'd liked lying in bed with my eyes mostly closed, watching the colors in Djhuety's head as he meditated. It made me feel peaceful. I shrug it off. Should have known it wouldn't last long. Peace is more precious than gold, in the Nightside.
There's a thump, and I shoot another look down the hall. "When Cassanova gets out here, he and I will have words."
Instead, it's Lily who comes out, and gives me a long, odd look, a little angry, a little hurt too.I wonder what put her in a mood.

Pausing, Djehuty grabs another bowl and fills it, offering it to the new comer. She smiles half heartedly as she accepts it and takes the seat to his left.

"So, you heard the latest?" I ask, swallowing hard, "The oracle at Mammon Emporium is a prick, by the way."

"What latest?" Lily scowls as she empties half a pot of sugar over her oatmeal.

"What we got up to yesterday. Sorry we didn't inform last night...it was a hectic day. But we think we know where our enemies are coming from now, and we have good news...Djhuety, pass me that paper?"

Djehuty flips the paper to Liv as Lily grunts and starts into her food.

"Six months of news we missed. Flip to the dog-eared page. That should cheer you up." I say with a grin and a wink. Lily studies me dubiously, but turns the pages.

"Elves and Walkers and door-mice. Oh my." Lily rolls her eyes and shoves the paper toward Liam. "Taylor is really the new Walker? Heaven save us."
