Paved with good Intentions, I hope Empty Paved with good Intentions, I hope

"Come my friend" I say as our companions sneak off, to my mind, for a quiet moment alone. "you wanted a sword and I may have a brilliant idea for where and how we could make one." Thoughts of the old workshop I had acquired reminding me of several marvels that had lain within half finished by the previous owner.

Leading Ignacy through the throngs of people it strikes me just how different everything looks, and more important smells. the lingering scent of magic, and various things the human nose is not meant to notice, are gone from my perceptions leaving the air smelling fresh for all it's foulness. once we reach the ally I it takes us some time to find the key from where Liv had dropped it. Now that I know her heritage I am mildly amazed that she would touch the key at all. It is a testament to her character as well as to her fortitude that she was able to without complaint.

Inside little has changed other then a decided lack of dust which immediately has me on edge. unable to resist the comic effect I call up a bad Cuban accent and call into the dimly lit room "Lucy I'm Home!" and am gratified by a startled crash in front of us. The Arm as we have all begun calling it flips me a rude gesture as it holds a dusting cloth "Ah it is you my friend" it makes a whirring noise "None of that now, I had no idea the water would have separated us so there is no need to be rude." is whirrs again seeming sulky "Hey I need your help anyway," another rude gesture "Fine if you don't want to help reinvent the sword" I trail off slightly amused by Ignacy's confused look "I thought that would get your attention" Taking out a small slip of paper I lay in on one of the open shelves for the Arm and Ignacy to look at (To be posted in artwork) "the Trick is that if we don't use magic or have the appropriate extradimentional parts we can't pull it off, we also need a metal that is so Highly resistant to heat that it can have napalm flow down it or shoot over it without ruining the temper, I am thinking Gehennian Iron, or Starsteel depending on what we can get our hands on." the arm whirrs again giving me a negative on both "most earth metals are too weak and well I can't afford mythril or Adamantine, so unless you have a better idea" Of course it does "I cant afford that!" I cry indignantly. The Arm scurries off to begin gathering components from the various shelves about the shop.

"Well Ignacy," I say cheerily " What kind of sword did you want?"

With a self satisfied smirk I begin circling my friend "what fighting styles do you know? Other then WWII German basic training?" several ideas begin coming to my head I have seen him move a bastard sword would work to use his strength but they get unwieldy, a long sword is almost over done, a katana, too mainstream for him, a Kryss? maybe lengthened it might work and with he flame motif he would need to learn to use a new style of grip though.

"to be honest i havent done much fighting with a sword before i did some dueling in my earlier years but the german army had phased out swords a few years before i joined, i am however accustomed to holding a pistol in my other hand when im fighting in close quarters tho, what about an arming sword? i saw a documentary on the history channel a couple of weeks ago and it seems like it would suit my requirements, not too unwieldy or too long and i can hold something in the other hand".

Nodding since he would be the one using it "wait here, if i am not mistaken my former appendage and rude friend may have found a good material for the blade"
as I turn and walk down one of the isles "I HEARD THAT" i yell at the arm. rounding the corner i see it using a leather apron to move a box, "here i will get that it is a two handed job, no offense" I say "you had other components that would help?" the arm moves up onto its fingertips and comes as close to running as it ever does along the floor, the half built pectorals wiggling like a macabre flag, I wonder what it is working on, no matter now. lifting the box and relishing my muscles burning from the effort i half carry half drag it back to Ignacy. "we have metal there is a container over there marked 'Liquid Nitrogen' could you move it over to the work bench?" I ask with a smile "you are in for a treat." is all I can say

"good connect the nozzle. make sure that the valve is off first though." I say levering an anvil over near the workbench, the hammers hanging off it "Luckily most of this is pre-rough shaped so we are getting the minor rough shaping done, and then we will use the buffing wheel to fine shape it." I smirk, bringing the normal propane forge over where the quench would be. oh gods why do I sense something going horribly horribly wrong? As if in answer to the thought the Arm comes back with a chest of various components it sets about assembling, some of them I don't want to know how it's creator got his hands on "if the Doctors ever see that device of yours you know you will be scrap right?" I get a one finger salute for my warning

I grin "Just before Liv, Kaija, Dejhuty, and I started the errand to restore me to life, I had a run in with the Sisterhood of the Immaculate Chainsaw a group of nuns who dismember people with Jotun inspired Chainsaws. My arm was cut off, for a dead man that isn't too bad. well I managed to best a few and be on my merry way." here I pause "that was when Kaija first realized who I was." I smirk at her indignant reaction to my lack of memory "we came here and after Liv Thawed me out with that voice of her. yes voice not mouth." I say to forestall any jokes. "I Grabbed an experimental arm and put it on. when we restored my body the arm was removed by my real one growing in it's place and it remained 'awake' for lack of a better term. He is making the hilt of the sword for you." looking around "stand ready if something goes horribly horribly wrong well, you might be the only one not in tiny pieces on the wall so until then grab a cloth and wait, when the final shaping is done you are polishing this sucker and becoming familiar with it." I grin turning the valve that lets some of the liquid nitrogen into a delivery system that is so similar to a modern forge or sterilizing room on a small scale.

"if you want to play with anything, and i use the term very litterally you are more then welcome too just don't blow up the shop okay?" I grin as the metal turns a deep blue in the forge allowing me to hammer the tang and Fuller grooves into it. It takes a couple heats but the alloy takes the temp changes quickly and seems to want to become what it is becoming. That worries me slightly. The hand signals that the hilt is done telling me the Rough estimates of how much Napalm fits in the tiny handle. the number staggers me, I think less was used in all of the wars since 1900 combined "Ye Gods tone that down, limit it to 300 gallons that should be more then enough" the arm grumbles in it's strange way at me about the limit. "Ignacy light up the forge there will ya? I need to temper and anneal this. shouldn't take to long." I grin knowing what he will see when it is polished

" Reverse Engineered Timelord Tech in the hilt. the handle is bigger on the inside then the outside." I grin as the metal hisses and steams in the flames of the forge that is being used as a quench "Besides it is a Hell of a lot better then using a backpack, that would limit your movement" I set the Blade against the polishing wheel slowly bringing it to a Gleaming Chrimson the color of thick blood, it isn't the polish it will get by hand but it will be interesting. I then set it in the Nitrigen jets again, then back to the forge to "quench" it. finally setting it in front of the jets to "heat" it again. gods this gets confusing when dealing with non-earth metals "there is some polish in the third drawer on the right. use that the blade should be annealed in about ten min, which is when the nitrogen will run out move down the blade from Tang to Tip" I say "and check for any cracks or dings"

My chuckle dies in my throat as the metal only begins to shine under his careful movements the expected hellish images never appearing "either that went very right or very very wrong." I say sweeping up the dross material as stroke by stroke the metal becomes like a bloody mirror. Once Ignacy has the metal gleaming I take the Hilt from the Arm, "thankyou my friend, and good luck with your pet project just please don't enlist your iron cousin he is much to violent." I reach to take the blade from Ignacy

I nod and take out a small etching kit "Could you write it out?" i hand him some stencils and some card stock to use "then cut it out and we will put it on the blade using acid etching" placing the blade in a padded vice I begin carefully aligning the hilt up and attacking it. It takes a couple tries to get the lineup just perfect but after that it bolts together nicely.

i take the etching kit and write in gothic lettering Dies Irae and 1916-1945 "would you be willing to put an iron weapon chain on it tied to a shackle around my arm when it is finished?" i say as i examine my handiwork.

thinking over the idea "Possibly, let me check to see if there are any components for that. If there isn't you may have to do that on your own time." I begin rummaging along shelves finding a number of chains but no shackles, something i am unsure if I could make well. Returning with a length of cable "here this should work for now." I shut down the forge and with a couple quick welds using an arc welder put the cable on the sword "you still need a shackle but that should help some."

I smirk "a man after my own heart but bartenders seem to take it poorly here and some of the bars i have been near i actually Like, besides the other two might be to warn out for that" I grin as we make our way back to the bar. When we do finally arrive that table has been cleared and there is no evidence of Liv or Dejhuty, this causes a small amount of worry when there is no message from them with the host I ask for a table and use a vew gems I snagged from the workshop to cover our previous tab and sit to wait. "lura på kor kjærastan gikk hænn" I mutter under my breath
